2018 SRCWA LiveLighter Aged Care Games Joondalup

The 15th Joondalup LiveLighter Aged Care Games was held on Monday 10th September 2018 at Bouncer Sports Centre. Thank you, Bouncer Sports Centre, for a great venue and service, your contribution made this event a pleasure to run. Fourteen teams competed in a range of activities specifically modified for seniors in care. Local Member for Kingsley Jessica Stojkovski MLA welcomed the participants and officially opened the games. We also welcomed Local Member for Girrawheen Margaret Quirk MLA and, Local Member for Burns Beach Mark Folkard MLA, Jessica, Margaret and Mark, thank you for your support of this event. Jim and Jenny’s Country provided entertainment before the games started and at lunchtime many thanks Jim and Jenny for your dedication. The Best presented team on the day as awarded by our independent judge was Bethanie Beachsiders, in third place was Barridale Lodge “The Golden Gilrs”, second place was Umbrella Multicultural Community Care “Roberts Ninjas” and first place by a small margin was the Umbrella Multicultural Community Care team “Magda’s Mouseketeers.” Our oldest competitors on the day both sprightly 102 year old’s, Angela De Mori of the Mercy Care Wembley “Wembley All Stars” and Cliff Sexton of the Woodlake Aged Care “Woodlake Warriors” . SRCWA thanks and acknowledges the hard work by the team from SRCWA State Branch volunteers, Rockingham Kirana campus staff and students, and individuals who helped to make this memorable event a great success for all the participants. We also would like to make special mention of the team from Wooroloo for their invaluable support. Remember LiveLighter by eating a rainbow of Fruits and Vegetables.
