The SRCWA LiveLighter Aged Care Games for the Peel region were held on Tuesday 8th October 2018 at the Waroona Recreation and Aquatic Centre. SRCWA Peel Branch president Jan McGlinn and her group of dedicated volunteers were supported by Alcoa volunteers to help present an event for seniors in care which was enjoyed by all. Twelve teams competed in a range of activities specifically modified for seniors in care.
SRCWA Executive Officer Dawn Yates welcomed everyone and then invited Waroona Shire President Councillor Mike Walmsley to officially open the games.
Swing and Sway performed dance routines for our lunch time entertainment. Everyone enjoyed their colourful and well-polished performance.
Best presented team on the day (as awarded by our independent judge) was Coolibah Colts and Fillies , in third place was Silver Chain Happy Galahs, second place was Alzheimer’s WA Ella’s Heroes and first place by a small margin was the Bedingfeld Lodge Mexicans . Our oldest competitors on the day was 102 years old, Vivienne Ferguson, from Wearne House. SRCWA thanks and acknowledges the hard work by the team from Alcoa Australia Staff, SRCWA State Branch volunteers and SRCWA staff who helped to make this a most enjoyable event for the participants and such a great success. The SRCWA Peel Branch LiveLighter Aged Care Games supported by LiveLighter Healthway, Government of WA, Alcoa and the Shire of Waroona.
