Be Active Aged Care Games

The Be Active Aged Care Games (previously “Interactive Games”) is designed to offer the Seniors in care, not only in nursing homes and hostels but also those in day care and in their own homes, an opportunity to once again experience being part of a team and enjoying social interaction with others, along with an element of competition.

Seniors Recreation Council of WA and the Department of Sport and Recreation WA conduct the Be Active Aged Care Games competitions. These games are held as annual events in various regional and metro locations and to that end SRC provides Perpetual Trophies and medals for the winning teams and also participation medals for all participants.

New Perpetual Trophy
We welcome the introduction by the City of Fremantle of an additional Perpetual Trophy to be awarded to the Champion of Champions team. This is presented to the team with the highest score in all of the games held during the year.

These games are held as part of the Fremantle Masters Games (South of the River) biennually, and in alternate years the games will be held north of the river. They are also held in Joondalup, Albany, Northam, Margaret River and Bunbury.

Such is the popularity of these games, the number of centres in which these games are held are increasing each year.

Representatives of various care agencies have contributed to the development of a book of guidelines and event rules – see link below. We thank them for their dedicated interest and support.

These games would not be available without the magnificent sponsorship of Healthway, Heart Foundation, Department of Sport and Recreation and Department for Community Development, OSIC.
