SRCWA Rockingham Branch LiveLighter Aged Care Games

The 2017 SRCWA Rockingham LiveLighter Aged Care Games were held on the 31st August 2017 at the Baldivis Recreation Centre off Fifty Road. Seven teams enthusiastically took part in a range of games developed specifically for seniors who may require care.

Local member for Baldivis Reece Whitby MLA welcomed all participants to the games and then officially declared the 2017 SRCWA Rockingham LiveLighter Aged Care Games open.  Thank you Reece for your support of this unique fun event for seniors.

After 4 hours of fierce competition, third place went to Italian Stallions (Italian Village Fremantle), Second place going to Banksia Park Bandits and first place was taken out by Super Silver Crusaders (Silver Chain Rockingham).

The best presented team award went to The Hopefuls (Silver Chain Hilton). This year our oldest competitor, was 93 years young (soon to be 94 yrs. of age) Shoalwater Penguins’ Betty Thompson. The participants were treated to a dance show performed by Swing and Sway at the lunch break, thank you Swing and Sway for a most enjoyable performance. SRCWA thanks and acknowledges the hard work by the staff and students from Rockingham Kirana campus, SRCWA Rockingham Branch committee and volunteers, SRCWA State volunteers and staff who helped to make this event enjoyable for the participants and such a great success.

SRCWA Rockingham Branch Have A Go Day 2016

On Wednesday 12th April 2017,  the SRCWA Rockingham Branch held its 7th Annual Have a Go Day a LiveLighter Event at the Aqua Jetty.  It was an excellent day which showcased club/groups from Rockingham and surrounding areas and the activities on the day were Xbox Kinect, Prime Movers, Simply Swing dancing, Swing N Sway, Petanque,  Pole Walking, and more, with around 650 attendees on the day.

A free Hospitality tent was provided and volunteers served many cups of tea and coffee and bottled water to participants on the day.

The day was officially opened by Mayor of Rockingham, Barry Sammels, other official guests included Reece Whitby MLA, Member for Baldivis, Hugh Rogers SRCWA State President, Councillor, Chris Elliott who acted as MC for the opening and throughout the day.

Congratulations to Frances Cheney, the SRC Rockingham Branch for the tireless work they did putting this event together.   A big thank you also goes to all the other volunteers who helped make this day a great success including Wooroloo Trustees who worked alongside the volunteers on Tuesday and Wednesday to ensure the day ran smoothly.

SRCWA Rockingham Christmas Concert

A fantastic afternoon of signing and laughter with WA’s performing legend Eddie Storm.
For those of you who didn’t make it to the SRCWA Rockingham Branch Christmas Concert…you missed a great performance. Congratulations to SRCWA Rockingham Branch president Frances Cheney and her group of dedicated volunteers on another successful event. Around 100 people were entertained at the Gary Holland Centre on Wednesday 7th December at the annual SRCWA Rockingham Branch Christmas Concert. Guest singer Gwenda Uren sang a duet form the Phantom of the Opera “All I Ask of You” with Eddie and they wowed the audience. Gwenda also sang “Memories” from CATS the musical. SRCWA Rockingham Branch would like to thank those who supported the concert Studio Twenty Six Photography, Friendlies Pharmacy Cooloongup, SRCWA State Office and the Rockingham Community.

Rockingham LiveLighter Aged Care Games

The 2016 SRCWA Rockingham LiveLighter Aged Care Games were held at the Baldivis Recreation Centre off Fifty Road. Ten teams took part in the games with third place going to Banksia Park, Second place going to Bethanie Kingfishers and first place was taken out by Rockingham Social Centre. The best presented team award went to Regents Garden Gladiators. This year we had two oldest competitors, they were both 95 years young (soon to be 96 yrs. of age) Bethanie Kingfishers’ Sheila Wegwermer and Italian Village Aged Care’s Cono Galipo. The participants were treated to a dance show performed by Swing and Sway at the lunch break, thank you Swing and Swam for a most enjoyable performance. SRCWA thanks and acknowledges the hard work by the team from Woraloo, SRCWA Rockingham Branch committee and volunteers, SRCWA State Branch volunteers and SRCWA staff who helped to make this event enjoyable for the participants and such a great success.

83 Year Old Strong Man Astounds Onlookers at SRCWA Rockingham Branch Have A Go Day 2016

Rockingham senior Alan Lewis shocked onlookers with his agility and strength with a demonstration of weightlifting a “clean and press” at the Olympifit display on Wednesday 13th April at the 6th Have a Go Day held in the Rockingham area.

Approximately 850 people attended Rockingham Have a Go Day with the opportunity to visit 57 displays, watch performances and take part in a wide range of activities.

Congratulations to SRCWA Rockingham Branch President Frances Cheney and the Branch Committee for an excellent job in producing a fantastic event enjoyed by all. SRCWA also thanks and acknowledges the contribution made by the many volunteers who helped to make this great event possible.

Rockingham Christmas Concert

Seniors in the Rockingham area were treated to a Christmas Concert on Tuesday 8th December, 140 seniors enjoyed being entertained by “The Entertainers” who performed many popular Christmas Carols which everyone sang along to and also featured some show tunes.
A wonderful afternoon tea of sandwiches and cake was served at the interval which everyone enjoyed.

Rockingham Christmas Concert

LiveLighter Aged Care Games Rockingham

Wednesday 2nd September 2015 saw an enthusiastic and colourful group of seniors from Rockingham and surrounding areas take part in the 2015 SRCWA Rockingham Branch LiveLighter Aged Care Games. The best presented team was Brightwater “The Oakes” who also took out third place, in second place was Bethanie Kingfishers and the winners being Rockingham Social Centre.. Our oldest competitor was shared by Shoalwater’s Olive Wilson and Banksia Park’s Charlie Cortes both a young 97 y...ears of age. SRCWA would like to thank Lesley (SRCWA Rockingham Branch President) and her team of hard working volunteers in helping to make this event a great success. Rockingham Have a Go Day 2015

SRCWA Rockingham Branch held Have a Go Day 2015 on Wednesday 15th April at Aqua Jetty. It was a great day for Seniors to come along and Have a Go at a range of activities, there was a range of sevices and information to take away. SRCWA would like to thank all those who helped to make this event possible and congratulate the Rockingham Branch on the event.
