Healthy Lifestyles Event Friday 5th July

The day commenced with Seniors arriving at the Kingia Function Centre at Serpentine Jarrahdale Community Recreation Centre in Byford. Participants had the opportunity to visit static displays and discuss any queries and issues with those in attendance, the event was opened by Graham Bennett, SRCWA State President. The Serpentine Jarrahdale Zumba Gold and Keep Fit groups came along and demonstrated their classes and invited all the participants to take part, this was enjoyed by everyone. This was followed by a healthy morning tea and then Informative presentations were made by Martin from SRCWA Tech Savvy Seniors on Artificial Intelligence and Justine Edmonde from NBN on the digital legacies both presentations were very well received.

Static Displays in attendance were Advocare, Audika Hearing Clinic, Baptist Care – Byford, Consumer Protection,

Council on the Ageing, Diabetes WA, Energy Ahead, G & P Medical, Halo care and Support, Injury Matters, Meningitis Centre Australia, SJ Community Resource Centre, SJ Mobile Library, Switch Your Thinking, WA Seniors Card Centre, YMCA. Participants also enjoyed trying activities eg; Pole Walking, Hover Soccer, indoor archery, bean bag toss, cup and ball toss, shuffle ball and sticky darts.

A big thankyou to the Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale, LiveLighter Healthway, Have a Go News, Telstra and Government of Western Australia for their support of this event. Thank you to all the staff and volunteers who worked tirelessly to ensure the Healthy Lifestyles and Tech Savvy Seniors event was a great success.

Healthy Lifestyles/Tech Savvy Seniors Event, 17th July 2024

Seniors Recreation Council of WA partnered with Town of Cambridge to present the Healthy Lifestyles TSS Event at The Boulevard Centre, Floreat which was opened by the Mayor, Town of Cambridge, Gary Jack. A day enjoyed by 130 people who were able to learn about scams and gather information from our static displays: Advocare ANZ Australia Bold Park Wembley Golf Course Town of Cambridge Seniors/Community Development/Community Safety & Rangers, Camera Electronic, Consumer Protection, COTAWA, Daily Living Products, Diabetes WA, Floreat Salvation Army, Guardian Safety Pendants, Hearing Australia, Injury Matters, Innogreen, Town of Cambridge Library and Waste Management, Transperth, First Aid Kits WA, Friendship Force Int. of Perth, Uniting WA Financial Wellbeing Services and MITE Radio who live streamed at the event.
Presentations at the event were from Martin Yates from SRCWA on Artificial Intelligence Scams & Marinda Willis from Consumer Protection on Current Scams, the presentations were very well received and there was an informative question and answer session. Following the session attendees visited static displays and had one on one time with the presenters.

Notice of Meeting – SRCWA State Office Annual General Meeting

Seniors Recreation Council of WA is holding its AGM at 10am on 25th September 2024 at Vincent Community Centre, Loftus Street, Leederville. The meeting will include election of officers, Annual Report including reports from SRCWA Branches and project officers and a guest speaker from nbn Local, Justine Esmonde presenting on Digital Legacies. It gives SRCWA Accredited Volunteers the opportunity to share information and anecdotal evidence regarding the programs SRCWA is conducting in Metropolitan and Regional WA. Notice of Meeting – SRCWA Peel Branch Special General Meeting

Seniors Recreation Council Peel Branch SGM will be held at 9.30am on 27th September 2024 at Leslie Street Senior & Social Centre, Mandurah. The meeting is to discuss SRCWA Peel Branch programs and activities from 2023/2024, forward planning and other relative business. Guest speakers will be Dr Sue Boyd AM & Justine Esmonde, nbn Local. This event provides the ideal opportunity for Clubs/Groups, Not for Profit agencies, Commercial entities & activity based groups to share senior specific information with the target group
in a beautiful outdoor environment at Burswood Park.
