SRCWA Albany LiveLighter Aged Care Games 2025: A Celebration of Fun, Fitness, and Community

The SRCWA Albany LiveLighter Aged Care Games held on Thursday 27th November 2025 brought together eight enthusiastic teams at the Albany Leisure and Aquatic Centre, creating a day filled with laughter, friendly competition, and community spirit. This annual event, hosted by Seniors Recreation Council of WA (SRCWA), promotes active aging, social connection, and inclusive recreation for seniors and people in care.

Opening Ceremony

The games were officially opened by SRCWA Executive Officer Dawn Yates, who welcomed participants and declared the event underway. SRCWA State President Colin Steer kept the energy high as the Master of Ceremonies.

Inclusive Games and Joyful Moments

Teams competed in modified games designed for seniors and people in care, ensuring everyone could participate safely and enjoyably. The atmosphere was full of laughter and camaraderie. A special highlight was Mary Cartwright from the Denmark Diamonds at 99½ years young, she inspired everyone with her energy and spirit!

Participants proudly received medals, and the winning team took home the perpetual trophy, a replica trophy, and gold medals.

  • ACE Camera Club’s A-Team, part of the Focus on Abilities program led by Bob Symons, who captured amazing photos and engaged with participants.

Entertainment

Throughout the day a lively performance by Merv Aylmore and Graham Jones, entertained everyone with a variety of songs and a fun sing-along.
