The SRCWA LiveLighter Aged Care Games for the Peel region were held on Tuesday 11th October 2022 at the Murray Aquatic and Leisure Centre.
SRCWA Peel Branch president Jan McGlinn OAM and her group of dedicated volunteers were supported by Alcoa volunteers presented an event for seniors in care which was enjoyed by all. Nine teams competed in a range of activities specifically modified for seniors in care.
SRCWA Executive Officer Dawn Yates welcomed everyone and invited them to stand a join in the national anthem, she then introduced Robyn Clarke Member for Murray-Wellington to officially open the games. Dawn then invited SRCWA State President Phil Paddon (our MC for the day) to say a few words and get the games underway.
Our entertainment for the games at the lunch break was “Eddie Storm” who had the crowd singing and dancing to a variety of songs.
Best presented team on the day (as awarded by our independent judge) was Brightwater The “COVE-ids” with an honorable mention to Graceford Residential Facility “True Blues”, in third place was the Graceford Residential Facility “True Blues”, second place was “Young at Hart ” Mandurah Social Centre and first place by a small margin was “Colours of the Rainbow” Bedingfeld Park. SRCWA thanks and acknowledges the hard work by the team from Alcoa Australia Staff, SRCWA State Branch volunteers and SRCWA staff who helped to make this a most enjoyable event for the participants and such a great success.
