Peel Branch held their Special General Meeting on Friday 27th September at the Leslie St Social & Sport Centre in Mandurah where 70 people attended. SRCWA Peel Branch State President Jan introduced special guests and Executive Officer Dawn Yates and husband Martin.
Two positions on the Committee were filled and Jan McGlinn SRCWA Peel President welcomed Dorothy Best who will take over the role of Treasurer and Robyn Ackroyd who was appointed to the Peel Committee.
Gail Shepherd was thanked for her previous role of treasurer, as was John Hunt who retired earlier in the year. Jan thanked Colin Steer for his help within taking on the treasurer’s role as well as being Vice Chairperson of the Peel Branch.
At this year’s AGM, two guest speakers attended, and were most interesting. Our first guest speaker, Carol Webb, spoke on “Have You Had the Conversation” a booklet she produced to help people when their partner dies. Our second guest speaker, Coleen Wright from Robot Buddy, brought along her two Robots to demonstrate their ability to engage with and take dance lessons with elderly people. The Robots were a great success and succeeded in getting most on the floor doing exercises to music. The meeting concluded with an excellent luncheon for all those attending.
We at Peel Branch look forward to the New Year of 2020.
Thank you to everyone who attended and helped with the SGM in making it so successful.
