Successful Be Connected Visit to Merredin

Wednesday 18 March 2026 marked a very successful outreach visit to Merredin, with SRCWA delivering an engaging and informative session for local seniors.
The visit focused on introducing the Be Connected program, with Martin, SRCWA’s Tech Savvy Seniors Manager, and Richard, Regional Liaison Representative, facilitating the session. Together, they provided an overview of the Be Connected site benefits, demonstrating how seniors can access the network to build digital confidence, stay informed, and continue learning online.
Around 20 seniors from the area attended and actively participated, gaining practical knowledge on how to navigate the Be Connected Network and explore learning opportunities designed specifically for older Australians. The session encouraged questions, discussion, and hands-on engagement in a supportive and welcoming environment.
In addition to the digital learning component, Martin demonstrated Pole Walking, showcasing a simple, low-impact physical activity that supports mobility, balance, and overall wellbeing. The demonstration was enthusiastically received and reinforced the importance of staying active alongside remaining digitally and socially connected.
SRCWA acknowledges the support of the Shire of Merredin, with particular thanks to Rebekah and Nicola, whose assistance helped make the visit a success. The Merredin visit highlighted SRCWA’s ongoing commitment to supporting seniors in regional communities by promoting connection, learning, and healthy ageing.
