Celebrating Community and Joy at the Peel Region LiveLighter Aged Care Games 7th October 2025

On Tuesday, 7th October 2025, the Peel region came alive with laughter, music, and friendly competition at the SRCWA LiveLighter Aged Care Games thanks to our naming rights partner LiveLighter Healthway , held at the Murray Aquatic and Leisure Centre.
Organised by the SRCWA Peel Branch, the event was a wonderful celebration for seniors in care, with 10 enthusiastic teams participating in a variety of fun, modified activities designed to suit all abilities. The day was made possible thanks to the incredible efforts of Peel Branch President Robyn Ackroyd, a passionate team of SRCWA volunteers, and the generous support of Alcoa volunteers.
The morning began with a warm welcome from SRCWA Executive Officer Dawn Yates, who invited everyone to stand and join in the national anthem. We were honoured to have Mr David Bolt MLA – Member for Murray-Wellington officially open the games, followed by a few uplifting words from SRCWA State President Colin Steer, who also served as our MC for the day.
During the lunch break, the crowd was treated to a lively performance by the legendary Eddie Storm, followed by a stunning dance routine from the Kereshmesh Dance Group. Residents and carers alike joined in the fun, showing off their own dance moves and adding to the festive atmosphere.
A special congratulations to Greenfields Circus – Aegis 1 and 2, who were awarded Best Presented Teams by our independent judge. Your creativity and enthusiasm truly lit up the day!
Competition Results:
1st Place: Dawesville Dazzlers – Mandurah Community Care
2nd Place: Bindjareb Elders
3rd Place: Greenfields Circus Team 1
We also celebrated two remarkable participants – Shirley Curnow of the Quambie Cowboys and Tom Ridgeway from the Cove Cats – both an inspiring 97 years young!
A heartfelt thank you to all the care facility staff, volunteers from Alcoa Australia, SRCWA State Branch, and SRCWA staff who helped make this event such a success. Your dedication and energy created a truly memorable day for everyone involved.
