Twelve enthusiastic teams came together on Thursday, 24th April 2025, for a wonderful day of fun and friendly competition at the South West Sports Centre. The 2025 Bunbury LiveLighter Aged Care Games brought together participants from nursing homes, aged care facilities, and day centres across the region, all ready to take part in games specially designed for people in care.
A big thank you to Barbara Fleay, President of the SRCWA Bunbury Branch, and her fantastic team of volunteers, as well as the hardworking staff and volunteers from our Perth head office—your efforts made the day possible! A special shoutout to the amazing staff and students from South Regional TAFE and Department of Justice Trustees for lending a helping hand throughout the event.
We were honoured to have the Hon. Nola Marino MP, Member for Forrest, officially open the games. Nola kindly took time out of her busy schedule to join us, and with her upcoming retirement from politics at the Federal election on 3rd May 2025, we want to extend our heartfelt thanks for her long-standing support of the Bunbury Aged Care Games. We wish you all the best in your next chapter, Nola!
The games were full of laughter, team spirit, and great sportsmanship, with activities including modified seated hockey, seated pass ball, beanbag toss, and skittles. A highlight of the day was the carers’ game, where representatives from each team joined in for a fun and light-hearted challenge that had everyone smiling.
During lunch, the Bunbury Seniors Line Dancers brought energy and joy to the courts with a lively demonstration, and even inspired a few of our participants to join in the dancing!
Congratulations to all teams for their fantastic effort and team spirit. Here are the results:
