Have a Go Day, a LiveLighter Event, “Age is No Barrier”
in Burswood Park, Wednesday 13th November 2024 9am to 3pm

Have a Go Day, a LiveLighter Event is an activity/information day for over 50’s, once again presented in the beautiful grounds of Burswood Park, at the event there will be a wide range of information and activities, something for everyone. The Hon Don Punch MLA, Minister for Regional Development; Disability Services; Fisheries; Seniors and Ageing; Volunteering; will officially welcome everyone at 10.30am at the entertainment stage site 105.
There will be a wide variety of activities to have a go at, a few of these are, Seated Volleyball, Disk Bowls, Trishaws for Seniors, Lazer Pistol Shooting, Squash, on land Artistic Swimming demos, exercise activities, range of dance activities and more, also remember to keep hydrated at the hospitality tents sponsored by Have a Go News, Phoenix Insurance & Auscare Group providing free tea, coffee & bottled water for participants. The Juniper entertainment stage has a line-up of artists throughout the day these will include, the Rebound RockNRoll Band, WA Social Rock & Roll Dance Group, Moyra J Scott, Kevin Bennett and a variety of other artists, this year the Entertainment Stage is sponsored by Juniper.

LiveLighter Aged Care Games Rockingham

The “SRCWA Rockingham LiveLighter Aged Care Games were held at the Baldivis Recreation Centre off Fifty Road on Thursday 22nd August 2024, thanks to our naming rights partner LiveLighter Healthway.
On a lovely sunny day, six teams enthusiastically took part in a range of games developed specifically for seniors in care.
City of Rockingham Mayor Deb Hamblin welcomed all participants to the games and officially declared the 2024 SRCWA Rockingham LiveLighter Aged Care Games open. Thank you, Deb, for your support of this unique fun event.
Colin Steer SRCWA Vice President was MC for the event and after 4 hours of fierce competition the winners were announced, third place went to “The Gracehaven Sharks ”, Second place going to “Bethanie South Metro Royals” and first place was taken out by “The Old Birds”.
The best presented team award went to the “The Gracehaven Sharks” dressed in blue. This year our oldest competitor, was 102 years young, Maxine Campbell from Aegis Shoalwater.
SRCWA thanks and acknowledges the hard work of SRCWA staff and volunteers. SRCWA is thankful for the support from Department of Justice who provide a group of Trustees and Staff from Wooraloo Prison, who help with the setup pack down and scoring throughout these events.

LiveLighter Aged Care Games Joondalup

The 21st Joondalup LiveLighter Aged Care Games was held on Monday 2nd September 2024 at Bouncer Sports Centre. The games were lots of fun and the 12 teams that attended had a great time. Participants take part in a variety of games which are played with enthusiasm and passion. These games for some participants become the highlight of their year with facility staff running training sessions throughout the year. This year was especially delightful as the Barridale Queens had a team of young children from the intergenerational program run at Barridale come along and cheer them on.
SRCWA State Vice President Colin Steer our MC for the games did a great job, instructing the volunteers and managing the games, thanks Colin. Emily Hamilton, MLA Member for Joondalup visited all the teams, officially opened the games, and welcomed all those in attendance. Emily we are thankful for your continuing support and encouragement of the work of SRCWA especially the LiveLighter Aged Care Games.
Kevin Bennett provided a great show and entertainment at lunchtime which everyone enjoyed.
The “Best Presented” team on the day was Aegis Bassendean Buddies. In third place was Activ – Red Diamonds , second place was RAAFA Red Devils, and first place was Ritcher Lodge Village People . Our oldest competitors on the day was a sprightly 98 -year-old, Maria Pesce of Myvista.
Media teams from Dept of Communities and Dept of Justice joined us at the event filming and photographing the event for promotional purposes.
SRCWA is thankful for the support from Department of Justice who provide a group of Trustees and Staff from Wooraloo Prison, who help with the setup pack down and scoring throughout these events, without all this support and assistance these events would not be possible. SRCWA thanks also and acknowledges the hard work by the team of SRCWA volunteers and staff who ensure all events are presented to a very high standard, and individuals who helped to make this memorable event a great success.
