ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE (AI) SCAMS

AI scams are clever schemes that take advantage of artificial intelligence (AI) to trick people and businesses. These scams often use AI tools like deepfake videos, chatbots, or automated systems to impersonate trusted sources, spread false information, or convince people to share sensitive details or money.

A common type of AI scam involves deepfakes, where AI creates realistic videos or audio that mimic celebrities, public figures, or even people we know. Scammers use these to send fake messages, ask for money, or create phony emergency requests. Another frequent scam is phishing, where AI sends convincing fake emails, text messages, or phone calls that seem to come from trusted organizations like banks or government agencies. These messages may ask for personal information or prompt you to click on harmful links.

AI chatbots are also used to pose as customer service agents, tricking users into falling for fake offers, subscriptions, or support services. These bots engage in automated conversations that feel very real, often persuading people to give away financial details or make poor investments.

Some AI scams target people with investment or financial fraud, using algorithms and machine learning to make fake opportunities seem legitimate. These scams promise high rewards with little risk, all while trying to steal money from those who believe they’re making a sound investment.

To stay safe from AI scams, it’s important to stay informed and cautious. Always verify sources, be careful with personal information, and use security tools to protect yourself from AI-driven fraud.
