Healthy Lifestyles/Tech Savvy Seniors Event, 12th June 2025
The Seniors Recreation Council of WA, in collaboration with the City of Canning, hosted a delightful and engaging Healthy Lifestyles Event that brought together community members for a day of learning, laughter, information and healthy lunch.
Attendees were greeted by SRCWA Executive Officer Dawn Yates who welcomed everyone to the event and then handed over to City of Canning’s Deborah NcCube who was MC for the day. Participants enjoyed taking part in Laughter Yoga, Pole Walking, Tibetan Sound Healing and sharing a cooking demonstration by Chef Les from 2 Deadly Food & Fitness which we all enjoyed eating once the demonstration was concluded. Chung Wah (Evergreen College Willetton) wowed the crowd with graceful traditional Chinese dance demonstrations -bringing colour and cultural richness to the day. There were presentations from Advocare and Association for Culturally Appropriate Services and the Volunteer Visitor Service which were very informative. The static displays at the event were City of Canning, Riverton LeisurePlex, Advocare, Willeton Laughter Yoga, Audika, 2 Deadly Food & Fitness, Tibetan Sound Healing, Association for Culturally Appropriate Services, Chung Wah (Evergreen College Willetton), Diabetes WA Rostrata Family & Neighbourhood Centre and SRCWA.
The event left attendees inspired, informed, and feeling more connected to their community and to their own wellness journey. A huge shout out of thanks to Jessica from The City of Canning for all her hard work in helping to bringing this event together.
SRCWA thanks and acknowledges the support from City of Canning, LiveLighter Healthway and Government of WA.
