Congratulations to Have a Go News for its 400th issue this July, what an amazing achievement from a humble spread sheet in the beginning produced and developed by Judith Treby and Quentin Smythe to the most amazing and dedicated seniors newspaper under Jen Merigan management it is today. Congratulations to Jen and her fabulous team producing a well written and exciting newspaper for the over 50’s. SRCWA is proud of its ongoing partnership with Have a Go News and appreciates the magnificent support we have received from them since the very beginning of this organisation.
Congratulations – Channel 9 Perth
Since its first transmission on June 12, 1965, Channel Nine Perth has been a cornerstone of Western Australian television, delivering news, entertainment, and unforgettable moments to generations of viewers. From ground breaking local productions to bringing the best of Australian and international content to our screens, the station has played a vital role in shaping the media landscape.
Channel Nine Perth plays a significant role in keeping seniors in Western Australia informed, entertained, and connected to their community. The station covers important issues affecting older Australians, including aged care policies, cost-of-living concerns, and social initiatives.
SRCWA would like to extend a huge thank you and congratulations on behalf of the many seniors who tune in, watch and engage with Channel Nine Perth daily.

LiveLighter Seniors Activity Information Day – Vincent Community Centre, Leederville
On Friday, 16th May 2025, around 70 enthusiastic seniors came together for the LiveLighter Seniors Activity & Information Day, proudly sponsored by our naming rights partner LiveLighter Healthway and organised by SRCWA in partnership with the City of Vincent. This vibrant event brought together a fantastic mix of organisations offering helpful information and services through engaging displays. A big thank you to all the wonderful groups who took part: Advocare, ANZ Bank, Audika, Auscare Group, City of Vincent, Consumer Protection WA, COTA WA, Department of Transport, Dept of Health and Aged Care, Diabetes WA, Injury Matters, Innogreen, LiveLighter, Meningitis Centre Australia, MindSpot GP, Rapport Holistic Home Care, SRCWA, Stroke Foundation, Uniting WA Financial Wellbeing Services,. Your support made a big difference! But it wasn’t just about information—there was plenty of fun and activity too! The lively group of seniors got moving with Pole Walking, Indoor Archery, Seniors Movement Exercises (thanks to Onyx Movement), and Hover Soccer, just to name a few. It was wonderful to see everyone getting involved and trying something new. After a morning full of action and learning, participants enjoyed a delicious and healthy lunch featuring sandwiches, hot food, fresh fruit, and cake. A heartfelt thank you to the City of Vincent and our amazing SRCWA volunteers for all your hard work in making the day such a success. This event was proudly sponsored by our naming rights partner LiveLighter Healthway, with support from the City of Vincent and the Government of WA. WACBA Patrons Bowls
On Tuesday 20th May 2025, the West Australian Carpet Bowls Association (WACBA) hosted its much-loved annual Patrons Cup Mixed Indoor Bowls Tournament at Swan Active, Beechboro and what a fantastic day it was!
There was plenty of friendly competition, laughter, and great sportsmanship as 20 teams from across the state came together to enjoy the game and each other’s company.

Have a Go News and Seniors Recreation Council of WA (SRCWA) are incredibly proud of their long-standing support of this event for over 20 years. This event provides the ideal opportunity for Clubs/Groups, Not for Profit agencies, Commercial entities & activity based groups to share senior specific information with the target group in a beautiful outdoor environment at Burswood Park.
