
SRCWA ROCKINGHAM, HAVE A GO DAY, a LiveLighter Event 2025
The 2025 Rockingham Have a Go Day a LiveLighter Event was held on Wednesday 2nd April and was a fantastic event for around 1200 seniors who were treated to an exciting and informative day out. This was the at 13th Rockingham Have a Go Day which was held at the Mike Barnette Sports Complex in Rockingham. There were 99 sites and activities spread across the main hall showcasing Seniors’ Clubs, Groups, Agencies and Businesses from the Rockingham and surrounding areas.
The Official Opening commenced at 10.00am with an introduction by SRCWA Executive Officer Dawn Yates, who introduced City of Rockingham Mayor, Deb Hamblin, who officially opened the day and invited everyone to have a great time.
Activities and entertainment included, Pickle Ball, Square Dance Society, Happy Feat Dance Group, Handbells in Peel, Indoor Bowls, Indoor Archery, Hart Sports Equipment, Game of Bob, Seated Hover Soccer, Carpet Golf, Corn Hole Toss, Pole Walking and more.
Thanks to the SRCWA Head Office and the team of volunteers assisting with the event, especially our tea ladies who supplied the free tea, coffee and bottled water through out the day and also distributed delicious and healthy sandwiches to those who manned the static displays, the day was enjoyed by all. Also a huge thank you to the team of guys who came from Wooroloo Prison Farm who assisted with the set up, and pack down and throughout the day. Thank you to all the SRCWA volunteers and the local Clubs and Groups who’s hard work was invaluable in making this a great event. A special thank you goes to the Rotary Club of Palm Beach, who managed traffic direction and parking – great job, team! The Lions Club of Rockingham in partnership with City of Rockingham also served up a delicious free sausage sizzle, including vegan options to those at the event.

SRCWA State Over 60’s Mixed Pairs Lawn Bowls
Eighty two teams took part in the 2025 Seniors Recreation Council State Over 60’s Mixed Pairs Lawn Bowls tournament. The games were held at various clubs throughout the Perth Metropolitan area and the tournament culminated with the finals played at the Morley Bowling Club on Thursday 10th April 2025. The semi-finals and final were very competitive games with close scoring ends played in ideal weather conditions. Congratulations to Mark Douthie & Rhonda Prosser (North Beach) won the final over Kathy Gobbart (Gingin) and Roy Humfrey (Joondalup). Equal Thirds at the event were: Michael Sweeney & Rinske Butcher (North Beach), Graeme Smith & Debbie Smith (Safety Bay). SRCWA acknowledges Bowls WA President Doug Kelly, Bowls WA CEO Ken Pride, Bowls WA Staff and all those involved for running a great event. SRCWA Treasurer, Michelle Boelens, Executive Officer Dawn Yates & Program Manager Martin Yates attended the final presenting the trophy, medals and prizes to the winning teams.

This event provides the ideal opportunity for Clubs/Groups, Not for Profit agencies, Commercial entities & activity based groups to share senior specific information with the target group in a beautiful outdoor environment at Burswood Park.
